Who we are
Eco-MICAIA Ltd is a company registered in Mozambique. We were established in 2007.
We define a ‘social enterprise’ as an organization established to use commercial means to achieve financial and social ends. In this case, Eco-MICAIA Ltd has been set up to provide a range of services and to develop products that can together generate new opportunities for community producers and in the long-term, income for the MICAIA Foundation.
Eco-MICAIA’s founding Directors are MILAGRE NUVUNGA and ANDREW KINGMAN.
Milagre Nuvunga (click to access full CV), a Mozambican citizen, is an experienced development professional whose 25-year career has included national office in the Government of Mozambique, senior positions in the United Nations, and in international foundations. Milagre’s particular interests are in natural resource management and use, community development, and community based tourism. In addition to her role as a Director of Eco-MICAIA Ltd, Milagre is Executive Director of MICAIA Foundation.
Andrew Kingman (Click to access full CV) originates in the UK but has spent most of his 20-year career working in Africa, and other parts of the Global South. Andrew has launched and led two international development organizations prior to MICAIA, and has worked extensively as a consultant. Andrew’s particular interests lie in organizational development of local civil society groups, small enterprise development, and community based tourism. Andrew is Managing Director of Eco-MICAIA Ltd and also serves as Director of Programmes for MICAIA Foundation and MICAIA UK’s representative in Mozambique.
Eco-MICAIA also has a group of Associates, specialists in fields including ecology, forestry, agriculture, credit systems and enterprise development
